  • The Legion of Mary is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church with well over three million active members in most countries all over the world.

In our parish, members meet together once a week on Saturday mornings after the 8:30 Mass in the St. Benedict Room in the Parish center for prayer, planning, and discussion in a family setting: they do a couple of hours of definite work each week in pairs and under the guidance of a Spiritual Director.

The Legion of Mary is open to all Catholic men and women. There is an easing-in period so you can see how work or family obligations blend with the tried and proven system of the Legion.

You are invited to come and see the Legion from the inside. And you can go as a guest in one of the work assignments with an experienced member if you wish. You won’t need a lot of talent, or great intelligence or even a feeling of being capable. What you need is willingness to sacrifice a little of you time and energy for the greatest reason in the word: your love of God.

  • "The Legion of Mary was founded in Dublin, Ireland, as a Roman Catholic Marian Movement by layman Frank Duff. Today between active and auxiliary (praying) members there are over 3 million members worldwide making it the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church. Membership is highest in South Korea, Philippines, Brazil, Argentina and the Democratic Republic of Congo. These countries have between 250,000 and 500,000 members each.

Most prominent for spreading the Legion was the Irish legionary Venerable Edel Mary Quinn for her activities in Africa during the 1930s and 40s. Her dedication to the mission of the Legion even in the face of her ill health due to tuberculosis brought her great admiration in- and outside of the Legion. A canonization process is currently under way for Venerable Edel Quinn and a beatification process is currently underway for Frank Duff."
